The New Frontier III

Genetic Engineering will take over in the next 20 years. My thesis is that it is not only inevitable but it is unavoidable and maybe even good and moral. Genetic Engineering and Cloning is not a surprise to the Creator of the Universe and there is nothing that happens by chance and outside of his will.

Every medical science advance is questioned and battled on some front and cloning is no different. I remember following the genetic path of fruit flies in High School, I remember dissecting frogs and guinea pigs, and even cadavers in school. A few generations before me would have considered that evil and wrong. Some PETA people still do. I'm excited about the possibilities and the cures that we will see in our lifetime. I am excited about Genetic Engineering.

The story goes that a man is walking on the beach and he finds a watch lying in the sand. He looks at the watch and says: "Wow! Isn't it amazing how the wind, the waves, the sand and time has formed this amazing watch!" That is ridiculous we say but we still don't act that way. We look at this infinitely more complicated watch called a human being and say the same thing. The more we find out about this amazing watch the more praise our Creator deserves and should receive.

Even more amazing to me is the fact that the watch can take itself apart and now soon make another watch like itself! You don't see any other part of the creation that can do this. That is what's called being created in the "image of God." King David is amazed by this as well and in one of his songs says we are "crowned with glory and honor." We have the genes of the Creator in us and we will create, grow, evolve, change and advance.

Unfortunately we also make mistakes. That is where moral guidelines are needed. So lets step forward and help create them!
