Is this book surprising you in any way? I think that the first time I read it, I was surprised with all the times that God expresses his love for his people in this book. When God is talking to the Israelites here, he is also talking to us. He loves us so much. I hope you are hearing it in verse like:
4:7 says that God is near us.Enjoy the fact that God loves you. Remember the fact that God loves you. Act on the fact that God loves. You are special to him. You are a child of the Almighty God.

DAY FIVE, MARCH 23 - DT. 27-28
Today's reading is the blessing and curses of the treaty (covenant). This was done just before the parties signed the treaty. It was basically saying this is what will happen if one party brakes the agreement. Also the benefit (blessings) of keeping the agreement are described. When a treating like this was signed in the Near East, it had a double ratification. It was first signed with the king then it was resigned with his successor, usually his son. We see this in two ways. Joshua, as Moses, successor agrees in Joshua 8:30f to renew the covenant agreement. In the NT Jesus carries out God's declaration of love to his people.

Always begin your time of God with prayer. Ask him for understanding and insights. You can pick out a verse, thought or feeling from the passage and think on it (mediate) on it all day. Meditating on God's word means to digest it, put it into your mind, think on it, and concentrate in different ways on the passage.
Some ways you can do this is:
1. Put yourself into the scene.
2. Emphasize different words in the verse.
3. Paraphrase the passage in your own words.
4. Pray the passage back to God if it is a prayer, song, poem, etc (personalize it).
5. Use SPACE PETS acrostic to ask some standard questions.
S - Sins to confess? Do I need to make restitution?
P - Promises to claim? Have I met the conditions(s)?
A - Attitudes to change? Am I willing?
C - Commands to obey? Even if I don't feel like it?
E - Examples to follow? One to copy or avoid?
P - Prayers to pray? Is there something I need to tell God?
E - Errors to avoid?
T - Truths about God or the Bible I need to believe?
